After that, Sonny hunted down the husband and gave him a verbal and physical warning to never hit his sister again or he’d be dead. To his surprise Sonny receives a phone call from his beaten sister who is crying to him again about her husband’s abuse. Sonny stormed out of his house to get her husband and he jumped into his big black car. Other members of the family followed him in another car to find out what was going on. He came to a stop at the toll booth and paid the toll. The car into front of him stalled and he was stuck. Suddenly, several men in black jackets fired dozens of bullets from machine guns into Sonny’s body and car. He had been brutally assassinated by other mobsters. The next car rolled up behind the bulleted car and discovered Sonny’s body. This was very sad because Sonny’s attempt to protect his sister turned into his own funeral. After the Godfather comes home from the hospital he is greeted happily by his family. A few days later he receives the news that his son was murdered. He is very upset and feels that the violence has gotten out of control. He calls for a meeting with the five heads of the five mafia families in New York City. He asks the others to agree upon “going back to the way things were before” because there was less violence and a better life. The families remind him that he has the most power and that he must share the politicians and judges in order for them to cooperate with his requests. They compromise by agreeing to allow drug smuggling and to keep peace among the families. Although the families were in competition for the power and control in New York City, they knew that they build relationships that could make them act as a team in order to keep prosperity up and violence down. One of the most shocking moments in the story takes place in a sunny garden. The Godfather was playing hide-n-seek with his grandson and suddenly dropped dead (assumingly from a heart attack perhaps). Hundreds of people attended his funeral, from family to mobsters to polit...
