I do believe that we need to do more to guard and protect our borders, to keep illegal items from coming in, including illegal immigrants. I’m not saying to ban all immigrants from coming here, just to regulate it more so we know who they are and what is brought with them. There are ways to legally come into this country. When it comes to harsh penalties for drug offenders in the United States, I believe that they are just fine. With repeat drug offenders in prison, it is another person off our streets that was selling to, and providing for the youth of today. If a person is arrested for the first time for a drug offence, I do think they should have a chance to rehabilitate and be let back into society. However, when these people are making the same mistake over and over again, they deserve to sit in jail and think about the destruction they have done to themselves and the others they hurt in the process. Many times doing drugs leads into other crimes. All races should be punished fairly and equally. One reason that people may turn to drugs, is the lack of education they received about them.
