Jenny gives up the chance to study in Paris and goes to work in order to put Oliver through law school. The first three years of their marriage life is very hard in view of the fact that they live in a very economical way. Jenny’s father who wanted her daughter to find someone who loves her like he does, is not able to support the couple financially owing to the fact that he does not have a lot of money. And they could neither expect help from Oliver’s farther. They have to make it themselves. However, after Oliver gets his law degree everything seems to change for the better. They have money because Oliver has got a well-paid job in a law firm and they do not have to worry about financial straits anymore. Everything seems to be perfect. Oliver and Jenny finally want to build a family. Then the tragedy steps in. Jenny comes down with leukaemia and is going to die. Oliver who believes in his love stands by her. He even overcomes himself and asks his father, whom he has not got any contact with for six years, for money so that he will be able to pay the stay in hospital for Jenny. Mr. Barrett gives him the check without knowing the real reason for Oliver needing so much money. There is still a lack of communication and trust between them.
