Havre Public Schools and the Havre Public Schools Education Foundation deserve the gratitude of our community by making the best venue to watch high school football in the state even better. They have demonstrated to locals and visitors what a community can do when government and private entities work together for the common good. That same purpose, planning, and cooperation should be used to build a special events center for the Hi-Line. On Nov. 9, Bill Krueger of Conventions, Sports & Leisure International of Minneapolis unveiled a suggested architect's conception of a new special eventa center that could be built in Havre. The proposed design includes a 15,000-square-foot floor with retractable seating and seating on a mezzanine, with a total capacity of 6,000 seats. The main section would have a removable hardwood floor for a basketball court, and a concrete floor for other events like conventions, concerts and trade shows. It would also include space for a stage. It would have a 5,000-square-foot meeting room, which could be divided into smaller meeting rooms. The size and versatility of the proposed structure would give Havre and the Hi-Line a facility second to none in the state of Montana. The event center would allow Havre to host numerous athletic events, conventions, meetings and cultural events.
