The world in which he believed to be real, but was really a computer program that the creators of the Matrix would not let him see the world outside which existed in the year 2099. Once out, both of them had a time where they had to find themselves. For Sidhartha, this time was with the homeless people in the woods when his visions came to him. For Neo, this was his time spent outside of the Matrix. Isolated from all of his friends and family that he had known before. The difference comes in how they chose this life for themselves. Sidhartha had no idea of what was to come, but did not want to see his people suffering, and chose to isolate himself out in the world that he had not known.
