They cannot move at all, it cant search for its dinner, so they are determined as heterotrophs . They get their oxygen and food from the water. Their main foods with the nutrients and healthy substances that they need are protozoans, algae and bacteria.Sponges are found in low depth ocean waters, only a few live in fresh water. A real sponge is an Aquatic invertebrate, which means that it has no vertebrate. Not all sponges are the same size, their each very unique. They range from 1 cm in diameter to over 4 m tall. When you hear the word sponge you think ew their probably really ugly, their actually quite cute. They come in all different colors like orange, green, red and yellow.
