...ght on by emotions. For example, when Gilgamesh is grieving for his friend’s loss he goes into a state of depression. It’s not his friends’ death that disturbes him so much as his relization that he is to someday die. Gilgamesh says “I am going to die --am I not like Enkidu? Deep sadness penetrates my core,..”. This quotes directly tells his emotion at that time. We see that as a human he is unable to cope with such dismal feelings. An act portrayed by Odysseus in the “Odyssey” is his insanity. He acts this way due to his feelings of reluctance to go to war and abandon his family. Another way these two works represent human emotion is that they both demonstrate the thoughts or ideas which are brought on by different emotions. In Gilgamesh we find the hero thinking in obtaining immortality he will never die. The emotion that brings this thought on is his fear of dying himself. As for Odysseus his thinking about getting home to his family helps him persevere through his hazardous journey home. These thoughts were brought on by perseverance and determination.
