...is life. Even though he will no longer be chasing him Huck still has some of the characteristics that he received from growing up with his Dad. One example is how Huck always says that borrowing things is not a bad thing even though it is easy to see that he is bluntly stealing all of these materials. Another important issue that comes as a result from faking his death is that he no longer will have to live with the Widow Douglas. Huck never enjoyed the values and rules that the Widow Douglas gave him and was pleased to leave that house. Now that he is “dead” he will never have to go back to live with her. Another significant topic that comes out is that he will now be able to continue to runaway with Jim with no worries. He enjoys spending time with Jim and wants to help him to freedom. Jim helps him with many things and despite the fact for being depicted as dumb, Jim teaches Huck many lessons that he can use in the future. With all of these good results there are some negative. One problem is that after the death of Huck people began to blame Jim for being the one who killed Huck. Not only did he already have a 300 dollar ransom but now he was being blamed for being a murderer. Huck’s death was one of the most interesting parts of the book. It showed how clever Huck can be and by using his wits he was able to solve many of his problems that were in his life. I found it amazing that he was able to come up with such a scheme that worked so well. Huck was able to use his quick thinking to use the pig as his own blood which tricked his Dad into believing that he was dead. Huck did not strike me as one of the smartest people but impressed me of how well he handled himself. It was also interesting to see how it would be for Huck to be able to go to his own funeral. That must have been probably the oddest events of his life as he watched from the rafters. I don’t know how I could handle watching these people honor my life as I watch them reacting.
