Commensalism and Mutualism
...relationships occur in plant and animal species. An example of commensalism is the relationship between the clownfish and sea anemones. The clownfish live in the tentacles of the sea anemone. Since most fish avoid the poisonous tentacles, the clownfish are protected form their predators. Another example is the relationship between ramora the sucker fish, and sharks and other larger fish. The ramora attaches itself to the shark or large fish and lives off of the scraps the shark leaves when it devours its prey. Both of these relationships show where one species is befitted and the other is left the same, neither benefitted nor harmed. Mutualism is a symbiotic relationship in which both species benefit. These relationships can be found in plant and animal species, too. An example of mutualsim is the relationship between bees and flowers. The bees seek pollen and nectar for food.
