.... The United States supposed to be an anti-colonial power, people seeking their independence. The cold war against Russia and the war to hold back communism in Europe had already begun. France was an ally in the cold war with Russia. The United states was helping the French democrats with the threat of communism inside france. The communist party was holding important cabinet posts in the franch government. The united states remained neutral when France wanted to conquest in asia, there was all possible aid to france in Europe. The United states was neutral but in taking French side. In 1950 the United States insited the French to create some kind of nationalist movement that competed with Ho’s appeal to Vietnamese patriotism. People were not fighting. In January 1950 Mao tse-tung took over the territory of china after the troops defeated chiang. Chinese communist troops arrived in force at the frontier of North Vietnam. Ho chi minh was fighting alone and received material aid from an ally, China. China and Russia recognized Ho as president of Vietnam and promising aid. France russed into Washington D.C, united states, and mentioned that there was no longer a colonial war but a war against Asian communist. In may of 1950, the secretary achson of the united states announced that the united states would provide “aid to restore security” in Indochina and to develop “nationalism”. After Presidet john F. kennedy assassination, vice president Lyodon B. Johnson was then appointed President of the United States. President Johnson made a speech in August 12, 1964 stating that United states will not go north or south of Vietnam. That the United states will get Vietnam to save their own freedom with their own men. There was a rumor that at a private meeting, president Johnson was making plans to bomb North Vietnam. The radio in north Vietnam denied that any new attack had been taken place. President Johnson had a meeting with both parties of Vietnam informing that he would call a resolution making it clear that United states of America will support freedom and defend the peace in all of southeast asia. In the late 1964 north Vietnam had already invaded South Vietnam. According to “The Communist Road to Power in Vietnam”,by William J. Duiker, between the 1900’s and 1930’s there was a rise of Revolutionary Movement. Ho Chi Minh stated that the road to communism went through nationalism. As a young patriot living in Paris he became a Leninist, because Lenin’s elucidation of Communist strategy in colonial areas provided ways of liberating Vietnam from French colonialism. Ho then became a spokesman for the oppressed colonial peoples and the founder and leader of an organization of radicals from French colonies in France- the intercolonial union. He attracted the attention of the Comintern leadership in Moscow as an Asian revolutionary of unusual promise. (pgs. 7-41) The propaganda to French Indochina increased and the first moves to encourage formation of a Marxist revolutionary movement in Vietnam.
