The right of marriage isn’t just a title it comes with numerous benefits. Homosexual couples should be able to enter the financial agreement of marriage because they should be able to share marriage’s benefits such as, health care coverage, hospital rights, and death benefits. A big topic in America today is healthcare coverage. Many people live without healthcare coverage. Healthcare coverage is offered to fulltime employees of companies. They all have different benefits and requirements. Healthcare plans offered by companies cover the employee’s spouse and dependents. A homosexual couple can’t be covered on each other’s healthcare insurance due to the fact that they aren’t married. This causes them to have to pay out of their pocket for healthcare coverage of their partner. Healthcare today is very expensive, therefore health insurance rates are rising making it increasingly difficult for someone to cover themselves when not covered by work. These people have every right to be covered but they are missing that one thing that makes it official, a marriage license. Even today with the great advances in technology people are commonly hospitalized and treated for illnesses. When ill and especially in the hospital, it isn’t uncommon for the sick to want to be with the ones they love. At hospitals friends are not allowed to visit past certain hours and not at all if the patient is in a critical state, but family is. Despite the fact that they have devoted their whole life to that person, as a gay couple, they are as far as most people are concerned just friends. If a homosexual person’s partner was in the intensive care unit they would be unable to visit them due to the fact that you are not an immediate family member. Sometimes things go wrong and the choice as to what needs to be done has to be made. Since the ill can’t choose for themselves that choice is given to the spouse. A homosexual partner has no opinion in the matter, because once again they are not related. When two people get married and devote themselves to each other, when one of the spouses, in a couple, dies it is expected that the other spouse is entitled to all the belongings that they acquired together. This death benefit of marriage is not given to gay couples. Why if they have combined their money in order to buy things should the widow or widower not have the right to them? This issue can cause a problem for the living partner if the deceased’s family gets involved.
