Who is King of the Jungle?
...walks and decides to walk up to a fire hydrant, lift his leg, and urinate on it; of course it is! A man could even be arrested for such an action. Now, substitute a dog for the same guy, some people might find it cute especially if it is a puppy or other small dog. What if the same guy was in the car coming back from his doctor’s office. He sticks his head out the window, with his hair blowing all over and drool slobbering off the end of his outstretched tongue. Would a cop pull over a car if a dog had its head out the window? Is it vulgar when cats cough up hair balls and walk away, leaving the putrid ball on the kitchen table? No, its part of nature. Who gets blamed if a bear eats all you food one night while you’re camping out in the woods? The bear . . . never, it’s always the person’s fault who left the food in reach of the bear the night before. Similarly it would be flagrantly obscene for me to walk into you kitchen one night while you are asleep and eat everything in your house, and destroy your furniture. Human beings also know the difference between right and wrong, and unless provoked will chose the right action. Take a water moccasin for example. If you and in a lake with moccasin’s in them, and you do not provoke it in any way, the snake will still go and bite you. On a trip to the Louisiana bayou I learned that water moccasin’s if they sense your presence in the water will go miles out of their way just to bite you. It’s not as if the snake eats what he bites, or gets any type of physical gain, its just pure personal satisfaction. Granted humans do the same, in that we hunt snakes but we can make money of them, or eat them for protein and other means of physical needs. Likewise we, human beings, have the capacity to choose to be kind, caring, generous, and peace-loving. Kindness is more of a universal trait, not only in humans but in all animals. In the animal kingdom, helpfulness and kindness is based more on survival versus death. Some animals share food with each other or help each other conquer their next meal. Maybe a bigger fish will protect a smaller fish of the same species from being eaten by a third party. Mostly animals are kind in order to prolong life. In the human world, we can help each other for the simple pleasure of making us feel good. Help with homework, or helping to change someone’s flat tire, are example’s of non life threatening generosity. ...
