Thinking About our Actions
...many different ways. It caused racial tension in the Los Angles police department separating black cops from white cops. It also caused a nation wide scare of cops unjustly overusing their authority. Not thinking also caused the cops to lose their jobs and stated a bad reputation for them as racists. Many other bad things have happened that are due to not thinking. Look at college students drinking and driving when they get in a car drunk they do not think what the consequences are and how they can affect so many people. Driving while drunk can cause many people to get hurt or even killed. When doing this you can cause anguish to many families without even knowing it. This decision is not thought out and causes a lot of damage. Thinking about an action does not always make it the right one. Adolf Hitler sat in prison and thought about what he was going to do and how he was going to do it. Hitler thought that he was doing this for the good of all-Germany, but was it really for good of everyone. As Jean-Paul Sarte says “To choose to be this or that is to affirm at the same time the value of what we choose, because we can never choose evil. We always choose good, and nothing can be good for us without being good for all”(190). Hitler thought that his actions were to be for the good of all in creating a master race that would rule the world. Hitler’s actions, though thought out, were not considered to be a good one by most of the world. . The consequences of thinking about actions do not always come out the way that may be expected. Look at the thought of communism in Russia in past years. Russia’s economy has plummeted into despair instead of rising to heights never seen. The thought of true communism is for every body to be equal and to get paid the same. In the communism of Russia, there was bribery, treachery, and a decline in powerful leaders that caused the economy to fall out in Russia. When first thought of for use in Russia communism was set up to get rid of an already failing economy. Which in turn it did, but started a whole new problem for which communism could do nothing about. When we think about our actions most of the time our actions will speak for them self. Our actions show many things when we think about them. We can change the way they are done and how they come out. For example a young man is waiting out side a convenient store in a car just waiting for his friend to come out with the money from the cash register. While sitting in the car the driver begins to contemplate the consequences of the robbery he starts the car and drives off. In driving off he has just change his future and the future of his partner who is now in jail for robbing a bank. With his thinking he has chosen a better life for him and a more promising future. If you look at if he would have stayed and drove off with the money he could be in jail for accessory of a robbery and possibly accessory of murder ...
