...duism, it is accepted that the cycle of life, death and rebirth persists for many lifetimes. Buddhism’s founder, Siddhartha Gautama, accepted this concept as well and continued to follow through on it until his death. Both Hinduism and Buddhism espouse that through this process of life, death and rebirth one will reach a final place with Great World Soul. Karma is another thing that is alike between the two religions. Karma is thought that one’s rebirth in reincarnation is determined by their actions in this life. In each religion, karma is considered a cause and effect relationship because of the way it works. Depending on whether you are good or bad, will affect what happens in your next life. In Hinduism, the concept of karma is governed by the dharma. The dharma is the moral code of Ancient Indian cultures that regulates human behavior. Gautama accepted these aspects of Hinduism as well. The ultimate goals of Hinduism and Buddhism also parallel each other. Hinduism’s ultimate goal is a release from the cycle of reincarnation leading to a melding with the Great World Soul, Brahman. In Buddhism, the goal is to reach Nirvana. Nirvana is the release of the existence from the wheel of life in order to join with Brahman. To achieve Nirvana, one has to follow the “Middle Path” also known as the Eightfold way.
