...not for success or fame but because he loved it. Jim once said, “Follow your enthusiasm. It’s something I’ve always believed in. Find those parts of your life you enjoy the most. Do what you enjoy doing.” I truly believe that Jim was correct, that life is too short to worry about money and fame you should concentrated on what love. Jim loved to bring smiles to everyone’s face. He loved to make you laugh when you were trying to be serious. Jim loved to pull out the child the secretly still remains in every adult. In 1970 Jim’s greatest contribution to the world aired, “Sesame Street”. From Sesame Street came the Muppet show, Muppet babies, and numerous Muppet movies. His creative mind and imaginary spirit allowed for characters such as Kermit the frog, Ernie and Bert, Miss Piggy, Big Bird, and even Oscar the grouch to touch millions of children’s lives around the world. Think about your own childhood for just a second. Can you remember the Sesame Street theme song? I know I can. I remember taking my Elmo doll to every grocery store, mall, bank, and everywhere else my mom took me as a kid. I don’t actually remember this, but my mom tells me that when I was 3 years old I loved Sesame Street so much that my parents would tape every single episode. I would make them rewind the tape to the theme song part where I would perform a dance while holding my Elmo doll. I remember hating the fact that on Muppet Babies you could never see the Nanny’s face only the green stripes on her stockings. I remember taking Big Bird bubble baths. Jim Henson’s imagination and ingenious ideas brought so much happiness to so many children. Sesame Street provided every kid a fantasy world where everything was wonderful.
