Bruce accurately supported his thesis by the use of many secondary sources for his research. He uses these pieces to point out the flaws in their technique and inaccurate research and states how to make it more accurate. He tells his readers this by saying it can be more accurate by showing the effects of race on whites as well as blacks, class on both the poor and rich sides, pride for one to show their manhood as a factor, and how social and physical conditions affect antisocial behavior (Bruce, 94). These are very strong points as the readers are aware of by the graphs used in his article. These graphs show how community characteristics, family resources, peer association, and individual behaviors are combined to affect violent behavior. These graphs are legitimate because not only does it use many different factors, but also it was drawn up by interviews and in-class questionnaires and put on structural equation modeling. Bruce presents a clear argument by making apparent the inaccuracy of other research and showing that many other factors contribute to the violence rate. Although a very supportive article, it does contain a few flaws. Bruce seems to captivate a bias perspective on this subject. Not only does he put down other research drawn up by saying they are inconsistent, but also pulls many different portions from many different articles to make his point (Bruce,66).
