"The Mystery of Queen Nefertiti"
...ink that around the twelfth year of Akhenaten’s rule Nefertiti may have become his co-regent and after his death she may have ruled for a short time. After Nefertiti and Akhenaten perished there names were erased from the historic records of Egypt. Did Nefertiti die if natural causes or was she brutally murdered? This is a mystery that may never be solved. That’s why Dr. Joann Fletcher is trying to find the body of Nefertiti to see if she can solve the mystery. Nefertiti means “perfect” or the “beautiful one.” In 1912 German archeologists found three unidentified bodies. The bodies are located about four-hundred miles outside of Cairo in the Valley of the Kings. The Tomb is called KV-35. The bodies found are thought to be Nefertiti, Akhenaten’s mother, Queen Tiye, and Akhenaten’s son, Prince Tuthmosis. The evidence is strong enough to prove that the body was that of Nefertiti because she had double pierced ears, defacement, a shaved head because she always wore a wig. Her right are was folded over her shoulder and this was a symbol of a pharaoh, it meant power. Egyptologists also thought she was buried with relatives of the family. Dr. Joann Fletcher found all of these attributes on the body. They also did scientific research and the body was that of a woman in her late twenties to early thirties, which is how old researchers think Nefertiti was. In my opinion there is enough evidence to prove that the body found was that of the long lost Queen Nefertiti. Nefertiti grew up on the West Bank of the Nile River in Malcata. Nefertiti and her husband opened the temple of Karnack which was believed to be the biggest and best temple ever. Then they moved out in the desert and started the city of Amarna. It is believed that once Akhenaten died, Nefertiti moved back and reopened the temple of Karnack, and that is why she is buried in the Valley of the Kings. I think the information reveled in the documentary does support the conclusions that are made concerning the life and impact of Nefertiti. In my opinion all of the information makes sense and puts Nefertiti in the Valley of the Kings which is where her body is believed to be. All of the evidence makes sense and in my opinion helps to prove that the body found is that of Queen Nefertiti. The evidence does support the conclusion that the mummy in the tomb is that of Nefertiti. She had the double pierced ears, defacement, a shaved head because she always wore a wig. Her right arm was folded over her shoulder and...
