Those who agree with YRE see scheduling as an ease. They understand that since the school year is the same each year then they will always know the schedule. It sounds easy enough but for the families that have more than one child it can be more difficult. Many year-round school districts use a multi-track schedule which is when half of the school is on break the other half is in school. This makes it difficult for families to schedule there vacations, and for those who participate in school activities. Consequently, the student’s grades are depressing and the numerous disruptions of year-round schedules have caused the system to be looked down upon. YRE has extreme elevating costs. California school districts, in 1991, found that in order for the entire state to convert to the year-round schedule it would cost as much as $121 million per school day. The switch cost is due to keeping school buildings open, the cost to run the school buses, and each teacher’s paycheck. In most cases when school districts see the raised cost they suddenly turn away for the idea. Savings in a year-round school are not tangible because of the high cost. In contrast, when financial standings go up the percentage of year-round schools decline. In some occurrences year-round schooling has caused families, students, and faculty to endure countless dilemmas. Families are affected relentlessly as a result of year-round education. Having multiple breaks in a year-round school makes it difficult for parents to find childcare. Parents who are divorced and have joint custody of their children have trouble trying to make schedules around school. Year-round schooling can be difficult to keep up with at times, especially to the parents. School during the summer months is tedious to manage and uncomfortable to students.
