His album has 13 songs on it, and all contain very effective lyrics. The verse above is from a song named “Posters” as well as, “Looking at herself wishing she was someone else because the body of the dolly don’t look like hers at all.” “So she straps it on, she sucks it in, she throws it up but gives a grin, Laughing at herself because she knows she ain't that at all.” “Caught up in the trends, you know the truth began to bend, and the next thing you man there just ain't no truth left at all.” “Cause when the pretty girl walks, she walks so proud. And when the pretty girl laughs, oh man, she laughs so loud.”(Johnson) That excerpt clearly presents an emotional standpoint in everyone’s life at one time, which is one reason I chose this particular song. It reflects a feeling of insecurity that someone creates toward themselves because of the intense diversity amongst today’s nation. I feel the girl wishing that the body of the dolly more resembled hers creates an outstanding rhetoric. It recreates many feelings we all have experienced, whether toward ourselves or against others. Then he says “she straps it on, sucks it in, and laughs at herself” because she knows she is not that person. It openly gives the listener the reality of the situation, breaks it down, and then relieves them, leaving them with a good feeling about themselves. His music allows you to soothe those bad thoughts and drift away in a feeling of euphoria. In many of his songs he utilizes different outlooks toward life’s steep hills. His ideas along with his style are very original. Some of his songs seem as though they were written while on the beach waiting for high tide, or huddling around a camp fire with his fellow surfing buddies. I think it is adequately imperative to say the importance of his musical poetry is vitally a necessity to his genre. He has adapted his own method of writing music, which I feel creates a type of influence that aspires others to follow his leadership. Sometimes music is too generic or bland.
