...st of the way. Even if they weren’t satisfied with the owner they still should’ve loved baseball enough not to disrespect the sport and not to be honest with themselves and the team. Honesty and respect for others are the two main ingredients that a person needs to have if they want to earn respect for themselves and be remembered in baseball. John Cusack and “Shoeless” Joe Jackson each in the end try to be honest and respectful of the sport by playing their hearts out and trying to win after having a three to one deficit in the World Series. Even that didn’t help them as they were punished severely by the baseball commissioner. It shows how dishonesty and disrespect can hurt a person forever as John Cusack tries to clear his name in the sport and “Shoeless” Joe Jackson is denied entrance into the baseball Hall of Fame for their wrongdoing. The players involved getting banned from baseball would’ve never happened if they didn’t disrespect the sport and be dishonest with themselves as well as the team. Even though they were punished severely it seems it was the right thing to do for the situation. If a baseball player could do such a thing as taking a bribe from someone he shouldn’t be allowed to participate in the sport anyway. It may be easier to say if you don’t respect someone or something then someone or something won’t show you respect back. Consequently, the players that took part in the bribe lost respect from many people that truly love baseball and cherish the game. The players that were a part of the scandal showed a complete different side of the person they really were.
