Sethe Vs. Hester

..., tries to make Sethe and Denver realize that Beloved is not an innocent child. Denver realizes that Beloved is getting a lot of attention from Sethe. At a certain point Denver takes over by getting a job and trying to get the community to help her and her mother. At one point the whole town despised Sethe and her family because she was a murderer. But now the town comes to help Denver and her mother, they chase away Beloved. This allows the family to live happily at 124 now. Hester is a white woman from Europe who moves to the states before her husband can. She gets intimate with a young man who becomes the father of her daughter, Pearl. The town despises her because she has committed adultery, so as a penalty she is forced to wear the letter “A” on her chest. The town’s people tell her that the “A” can be taken off her chest if she would only admit to who the man was. Hester knows that if she were to tell that the man’s life would be ruined, considering he was a high individual in the town. Hester doesn’t allow this to damage her; she continues to improve herself every day.
