... In the second stanza reads, “of remembering your name”, in which she begins describing how it would be entering the “door” and taking the risk of trying new things. I think she is trying to say that you will always remember going through that “door” in your life, remembering the turning point of an event in your life, and the opportunity you chose. In the third stanza, Rich assures you that thinks look at you doubly when you enter the “door”, remind us that we will have second thought in the choices you make, but you shouldn’t fear change, you need to look back and let go. In the fourth stanza, Rich starts describing how it would be not going through the “door”. How it is not facing new events in your life and not seeing what might have been seen. Going on to the fifth stanza it says, “to hold your position”, in which that signifies you not moving forward in life, but staying and remaining in the past. Some people decided to keep things simple and steady and not be as spontaneous. In the sixth stanza she continues on how life would be when you hold back in life. If you do she explains that you could be blinded to new opportunities and new doings that life has to offer. She states, “at what cost who knows”, warning us that it could be beneficial to us or not. Going into the last stanza, she informs us that entering the “door” makes no promises. Starting a new job or moving into new surroundings will not always guarantee you positive outcomes. That choice or risk you take is only a “door”. I would say Rich is very confident and positive. Throughout the poem, she is giving us advice and backs it up with an understanding.
