Some characteristics of the C-130. (1) Has four turbo prop engines with a max speed of 374 MPH. (2) The length is 97 Ft 9 inches, height is 38ft 3 inches and the overall wingspan is 132ft 7 inches. D. The transport capability of this aircraft is that it can carry up to 92 passengers, 6 cargo pallets or rolling stock, in any combination, with a max cargo weight of 45,000Lbs. The second aircraft is the C-17 Globemaster III II. ASPECTS OF THE C-17 GLOBEMASTER III A. The C-17, manufactured by Boeing Company, made its first flight on Sept. 15, 1991, and the first production model was delivered to Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., on June 14, 1993. (1) The Air Force is intended to receive a total of 120 C-17s by the year 2005. B. The primary function is the ability to rapidly project and maintain an effective combat force close to a potential battle area. (1) The aircraft is also able to perform tactical airlift and airdrop missions when required. C. Characteristics of the C-17 Globemaster III (1) The C-17 measures approximately 174 feet long, 55 feet high, with a wingspan of 169 feet, 10 inches wide. (2) The easiest way to recognize the C-17 is by the winglets on the end of each wing. D. The C-17 is able to carry up 18 pallets in Logistics Rail System and 11 pallets in the Aerial Delivery System. (1) The cargo floor can be configured to slick floor for rolling stock, all rollers for cargo, or both rollers and slick floor depending on the configuration. (2) The max weight load of the C-17 is 170,900 lbs of cargo. (3) The C-17 can carry up carry a total of 102 passengers depending on the configuration.
