What is Wisdom?
... goal for me. By going to college I can get better opportunities of advancement at my current or any job that requires a college degree to be in a certain position. The other question I asked myself is what would my future would look like if I didn’t attend college. I saw myself miserable and working at the dead end job. Wisdom is also being in touch with your spiritually (believing in God)and faith. As I was reading Josef Piepers book about Lesiure The Basis of Culture ( one of my favorite books read for the class). I begin to understand why leisure is not just to relax on your days off. I begin to understand that when we are in leisure, we are spiritually and mentally intoned to god. I believe that is it true its like having a new fond for life. An example going to use is my grandmother she was a very hardworking women but she always find time to read her bible and go to church every Sunday, even if she worked. She always told us once you have found God you would be happy and have a new take on your life. I believe her words till this day it reminds me of what Pieper is saying in his book. That’s why I believe wisdom is being in touch with god. Wisdom is also science. Science is defined as “a branch of knowledge what is known concerning subject”(pg. 598). Why did I say Science is a form of wisdom you may ask? Science can be thought of as an attempt to comprehend the nature of existence. What I mean by this is that the Science wants to explain things but it is not the only way to explain things. For instance, astrology, and religion also try to explain and make sense of things. This is human nature, we are curious about things and need to know how and why. In science a scientist has to use a scientific hypothesis, oberservation or logic.
