The Roman Rule of Law and Justice is a very straight-forward document. The Romans believed in everyone was equal under the law, a person was innocent until proven guilty, and decisions must be based on fairness. All three documents are very separate and important in their own way. In Document 4, the ancient empires of India, Maurya and Gupta, are compared. Maurya was more focused on government than on learning, and Gupta was almost equally focused on government and learning. Maurya had rather harsh rule, an organized government, government-owned factories, and officials that collected taxes. Gupta had mile rule, an organized government, but the villages and cities had power. In Maurya, the wasn’t much focus on learning because besides schools and libraries in the capital there wasn’t any other intellectual achievement. On the other side, Gupta was the golden age of learning. Gupta developed the number and decimal system we use today. They developed plastic surgery and vaccines for smallpox. While Maurya had missionaries that spread Buddhism, Gupta developed carvings of gods and animals. In Document 5, the Inca road system is described by Pedro Cieza de Leon. Pedro Cieza de Leon was deeply impressed by the Inca road system. According to him, the Inca Road System passed through valleys, mountains, water, and edges of torturous currents.
