...mmunity. Since these kids are considered young to be living away from home, the role of the faculty now turns into a second parent. Not only do you have class time with your teachers, you live with them in the dorms, and they cheer you on at your games. However, since the school community is so small and demanding, it seems as if there is always teachers looking behind there backs trying to figure out if you’re wearing socks or just behaving in general. No matter how good you think you have it with your teachers, they will try and find a way to bust you any way they can. Most public school teachers teach there class, go home, and not see their students until the next day. Private school teachers live with you in the dorm and are always available for extra help at any moment. Public schools do offer sports to the students and can be quite competitive. However, it seems as if students who attend private schools have a certain trait they want to excel in. Sports are an important part of a private school life. With that, private schools seem to attract more dedicated athletes. Private school athletes all have inspirations to go onto college level athletics. This makes a very competitive environment. For example, the Prep school hockey Founders league is considered the most competitive league in the country. Private schools also seem to always have better facilities to accommodate these athletes. Since students live on campus at a private school it is important to have activities to help reduce boredom that is easy to come across. A lot of private school has a student lounge or “game room” type area with food, snacks, pool tables and loud music. On the weekends you will always find dances, mall trips, movies, or even a comedian or a hypnotist. This living environment allows much more study time with little distractions. Also, since private students are not allowed to have cars on campus, they are not able to leave the learning environment without permission. Even if the private school students were aloud to have cars on campus, they wouldn’t have too many places to go. Since the student body is made up from kids all around the world, the students wouldn’t have to many houses to choose from to throw a party. Also, since the student body is from all over the world, it is difficult to become close to friends in a small period of time and continue your friendship after graduation. In a public school most of the kids that attend have been going to school together there entire life. Some students are friends from kindergarten through senior in high school. Even though school is out during the summer you are still able to see your friends. In a private school you are only able to see your friends from home during the summer, and your new friends during the school year. Private schools are also sometimes very strict in terms of dress code. It seems as if there standards are built around there dress codes. A lot of them prefer jacket and tie during class hours creating a more formal environment. Public schools allow kids to express who they are with there relaxed dress code. Private schools seem to also have a lot less violent disruptions. Teachers thrive on good behavior and expected nothing less.
