Dracula
...ach other. Another Structure of the book is actual actions; these occur when Dracula sees Mina who looks exactly like his fiancé. He then takes over and becomes young and handsome to go after Mina. Dracula first goes towards Lucy’s Mina’s best friend a very young beautiful girl who is very charming yet very frivolous who cannot decide amongst her three suitors. She wants to marry all three. After Dracula’s attack on her, she becomes a vampire, sly and deadly. Some of these actions are very dramatic because he does so many things to get what he wants. Furthermore, Lucy becomes possessed and goes after Dracula. In this book there is a scene where she says to him that she wants to be part of his world so therefore drinks Dracula’s blood. I have noticed that Dracula at first rejects what she has told him but then accepts. The Characters give insights into their individual feelings and the happenings in their lives so the reader is made aware of all the happenings in each of the character’s lives. Another Structure that I have not noticed but when I was searching for a critic is time. “Right from the start, Dracula is a novel obsessed with time. Jonathan Harker’s first journal entry notes, ‘Left Munich at 8:35 p.m. on 1st may, arrived at 6:46, but train was an hour late.’ From this rather plain beginning, the readers are drawn into a suspenseful tale in which the clock starts to tick faster and faster as the fates of the character are determined. However, Stoker is subtle in his use of time, so that the reader does not even realize that it is a main theme and gives the story its structure. This structure is organized in a way that increases the suspense and disorientation of the reader as the novel progresses”. This Critic was very fascinating because everything does consist in timing. For example, Dr. Abraham Van Helsing, a learned professor extremely scientific in manner. He has an almost clinical way of killing the vampires. He is also extremely bold and courageous, who needs to get to Mina before midnight, or else she would turn into Dracula’s wife. Then it would be impossible to bring her back to reality. (pg. 307) After that there are other structures, colliding two worlds, and the ending climax. When two worlds collide its hard to be friendly because no one knows who does the right thing. Dr. Van Helsing tries to confront Dracula after so many year of waiting for the moment. Dracula, who was supposed to be dead for two hundred years, is alive. He tries to posses Mina. These two worlds can damage and hurt people. Then comes the ending in which Dr. Van Helsing and Jonathan gets into a boat and then kill Dracula and save Mina from her misery by using there tactics and intelligence. In this novel, Stoker uses horror word to describe how the characters were when they were in the scene. “The castle is on the very edge of a terrible precipice. A stone falling from the window would fall a thousand feet without touching anything! As far as the eye can reach is a sea of green top, with occasionally a deep rift where there is a chasm. Here and there are silver threads where the rivers wind in deep gorges through the forest. But I am not ...
