This story, Carrie, began a career full of horror and suspense novels, screenplays, and film adaptations for King. King became known for being a master at the art of blending elements of the eerie, supernatural, horror and suspense. Although King is mostly known for his horror stories, King also has written stories that fall into other categories. These would include stories such as Stand by Me, Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile. Stephen King has come a long ways since the young writer in Maine. He is now considered the richest writer in world history; and was named as one of the highest-grossing US entertainers according to Forbes. In his career, King has sold over 100 million books, and in 1999 King moved into the digital world and began writing The Plant, which was made exclusively for the website he made. He then charged readers $1.00 to download a chapter for them to read. Surprisingly, many Stephen King fans loved it and he plans on doing it again in the future.
