Know what you are looking for when you begin your reading and allow yourself to be persuaded in any direction by arguments given. By allowing yourself to do this you are able to gain more knowledge of different views and opinions of the topic, and therefore expand on your statement. In the section of the article entitled “Authors Present Knowledge in the Form of Claims,” it shows how Roger and Janet were persuaded in different directions through out the article that they were reading after they had read and re-read it. Criticism also helps you to find differences in opinions of the work that you are reading. Every author tries to persuade you in a certain direction to take their side. By realizing this secret act of persuasion, you can fully grasp the concept of each article and then make your sided choice from there.
