She was a tough coach who always pushed our team to do our very best. Whenever I would get down on myself after a game, she would always pump me up to play better next time. When my eighth grade year was over, I was sad because I did not want to leave her, she was always more than just a coach. She really cared about me and I could always talk to her and she always promised to come watch me play in high school. When I saw a short and stout woman with bobbed brown hair walk into The Dome, a smile came across my face. I was still a nervous freshman and unsure of my ability to play good volleyball. Coach Johnson always saw my potential and made me promise to live up to it. She told me to work my butt off and it would pay off one day. She made me fall in love with the game and most importantly, to believe in myself. I am now a junior in high school and I have achieved so much more in volleyball than I ever thought I would. It all started with Coach Johnson believing in me. I love the game now more than ever and I always see her face in the back of my mind when we win a game of if I play well. This past volleyball season, I got to play with Coach Johnson’s little sister, Jessica. She was so much fun and had the determination of Coach Johnson and loved volleyball just as much as she did.
