We would not want any employee in a situation that would be considered to put the employee in an unsafe position. Several things come up under safety, There would be a code for no fighting, assault or other disorderly conduct during working hours, whether or not such conduct takes place on the company’s premises. Also a code for no Possession of firearms or lethal weapons while engaged in Company business or on Company property. Any behavior, which involves the violation of any Federal or State law, would be a violation of our code of ethics. Of coarse you would need codes for the company only, No unauthorized use of Company vehicles or funds. You never know when an employee will try to use a car of truck for personal use or try to float a loan with Company money. Excessive absenteeism or tardiness would be a code. Without it a small percentage would take advantage of this and put unfair strain on other employees. This is a neglect of job duties and assignments. And last Code, which states no improper use or disclosure of information or documents, relating to the operations of the Company, including trade secrets or proprietary information. To implement the Code of ethics the company first needs to get it in written form. Maybe incorporate it into a Company Handbook. Next determine how to introduce it to the employees. You would need to get it to all existing employees by a meeting. This to introduce it and explain why it is important to them and the Company. You would need to provide time for everyone to read through it and get any questions answered. Checking for understanding is a major part of the meeting. Maybe have a game involved like jeopardy to made it fun for all and learn at the same time. The last thing would be to have sheets to sign off on stating the employee has received, read and understands the handbook with the Code of Ethics.
