...ensorship has been a prime issue in the media ever since the creation of the TV. As we all know, violence and sex have become everyday terms; this is mostly caused by TV. Violence and sex are all too common on daily television. The violence and sex that are normally seen and heard on TV has been proven to have an effect on the people that watch it. Many studies have concluded that violence on TV influences some people to the point that they commit violent acts. Young children are most affected by what they see on TV. Children are very vulnerable to such influences and often do not know the difference between right and wrong and the difference between reality and fantasy. Censorship on TV is primarily focused on children under the age of twelve. Television programs should be censored based on content, the time slot it will be showing, and the audience that will be viewing it. Years ago television programs were dramatically different. Violence and crime were heard on the news, yet gruesome details were never described. As time has went on, violence and sex have become the basis for most of the programs on television. No matter what news show you watch during prime time, there is always a list of crimes that have occured that day. Not only are these crimes told often, but the descriptions of crimes can be gruesome. The pictures that go with the crimes add to the violence. These gruesome reports of pain and suffering can leave an effect on any child that watches them. The addition of cable TV in many households adds the need for increased censorship.
