...o ask my mom and she would always tell me that family comes first and that I had already knew about this. It didn’t matter if we were going to eat with my whole family or if we were just going to go watch my cousin play soccer, she would never let me go because it was a commitment I had made to the family. Every time she said those exact words, know matter how much of a fight I would put up, and as I have gotten older I would not even have to ask my Mom because I knew what she would say and I started to realize that family does come before everything else. My Mom has taught me that some of my friends might not be there my whole life, but my family will, I could always meet new friends, but I could never have a new family. My Mother has always lead by example for my brother and I, and she has always respected everybody that she has meet and talked to. She has taught us that you need to treat everybody with respect, no matter who they are or if you like them or not, because something could always happen and they might be the only one around to help. She always said you have to give respect in order to receive it. My Mom has prided her self with the respect outlook on people, no matter what situation she is in, she keeps her cool and respects everyone around here. One way this came into play was last year when I was on the basketball team and it came time for our coaches to decide who the varsity basketball captains would be. The coaches voted on it and after practice the head coach took me into his office and told me that I had been voted captain by the coaches because this other kid and I were the only ones that respected the coaches, teachers, and the students in the high school. The one thing I remember everyday that my Mom has taught me is to value life, don’t take anything for granted. She taught me that you have to live everyday to the fullest and to live it like it is your last, because you never know what might happen the next day. I have lived everyday like it is my last since my 8th grade year. In the winter of my 8th grade year, I kept getting bad headaches for no reason, so before I had any test done, the doctors thought that I might have had a tumor in my brain and this freaked my family and myself out.
