Representation of the Caucasian Race

...The two fathers from both of these shows used to be high school athletes and were very popular at school. As they grew older, got married, and had children, their lives began to fall apart. These characters married their high school sweat hearts, but as the marriages progressed they began to fill with adultery and mistrust. Both fathers have successful jobs, but are only working these jobs because their dream of becoming an athlete was destroyed because of an injury. Depression is also very apparent in both of the characters. Yes, they may have many luxuries but they feel as if their life is not complete. What is supposed to complete their lives is never mentioned, but the audience can only assume that they could possibly be bored. Both of the fathers were pushed into their lifestyles by their own parents, and are still trying to do things to please other people and not themselves. Being able to please one’s self and obtaining fulfillment in one’s life is an accomplishment. These characters have not accomplished this task yet, but hopefully they will in episodes to come. Of coarse this is not true to all used-to-be high school jocks, but when it is, it is interesting to witness. Jocks are the ones that make fun of everyone and expect to be successful in all aspects of their life, but sometimes end up not being able to live in the real world. People that have been bullied want to see the jocks fail. This stereotype of some Caucasians is embarrassing. “Fox” presents several television shows that fill the stereotype of the “poor middle class role model”. In 1987 “Married with Children” aired on network television. Al Bundy, the main character, works at a shoe store and has two children and lovely wife. Although he seems to have it all, he takes it for granted. He neglects his wife’s needs and fails to realize that his children exist. He could probably do better for himself, but he is too lazy to even try. The main high light of his day is a cold beer and dreams that distract him from reality. Other characters such as Hank Hill from “The King of the Hill” and Peter Griffin, who holds the record for the longest fart in television history, from “The Family Guy” fit into this stereotype as well. Having the longest fart is not something the white race should be proud about. All these white characters portrayed on evening television lack common sense, settle for less then they are worth, and are extremely stupid. Not many sensible people would aspire to be like these characters. In 1989, a show called “The Simpsons” aired on network television. All the characters in the show are seen as yellow cartoons. Although they are yellow, they seem to portray your typical middle class Caucasian family. However, Homer Simpson is a poor role model. His main high light of the day are doughnuts and beer. Homer has difficulty grasping more then one concept and lacks maturity. His daughter, Lisa Simpson, seems to be more intelligent than her father. She corrects his grammar and tells him what is right from wrong. Homer often has problems making decisions on his own. “The Simpsons” opened the door to adult animation. Although the Simpson family were colored yellow and given spiky hair and crazy outfits, they portrayed typical Caucasian family. Yes, Homer is a poor role model, but the family is united and close-knit. The affection and togetherness displayed by the characters is what makes them a typical Caucasian family. The public audience does not seem to pay much attention to degrading material in shows such as: “Blue Collar TV”, “The Beverly Hillbillies”, “The Family Guy”, or “The Simpsons”. People just want to be entertained. Sadly, entertainment is loud farts, belching, and indecent behavior. Producers need to come up with things that will entertain the public and make them laugh. Cracking jokes on other people and other races seems to be the most entertaining. Although the jokes are creative and indeed hilarious, they m...
