This is where computer-assisted instruction comes in to play. By developing training software which not only educates through instruction, but also evaluates health care workers by testing their knowledge on the subject at hand. A health care service is able to determine whether or not its health care workers are able to perform proper procedures and ensure safety. One computer based method of training and evaluation which is on the rise, is technology-delivered learning (TDL). TDL uses a computer with audio/visual references that can be configured to the health care facilities needs. This method provides instruction at a pace in which the individual at hand can comprehend, which is a major step up from methods such as lectures or group conference training. In these old methods of training individuals tend to lose focus or simply can not keep up with the group or instructor. Using the Computer-assisted training, the individual is the navigator and controls their pace of learning and understanding the instruction given. After educating the health care worker, a series of tests are administered. This is to assure that proper training has been completed and that the health care worker can apply the information to their specific job. Although computer based training can be an effective way to train and evaluate an employee. It should not be the only method of training utilized by the supervisors. Assessment tests are not for everybody. Some people are better at hands on learning than they are reading and comprehending. It is up to the supervisor to ensure that the individual is properly trained.
