Curling with an Iron: Another method of curling hair is that of wrapping it briefly around a heated metal rod, called a curling iron. In the 1870`s, a type of iron was introduced that formed a deep-grooved wave called a marced. They are still used occasionally. Changing the hair color: The pigment of coloring matter, of hair may be removed by peroxide or other bleaching agents. Color may be added to the hair by dyeing, tinting or color rinsing. Bleaching and dyeing have a permanent effect on the hair shaft, but the natural color shows near the scalp as the hair color completely, but only add darker or richer tones to the natural color. Tinting lasts for several weeks, but is eventually removed by repeated shampoos. Color rinses are washed out with one shampoo. Tints and color rinses can be easily applied in the home, but dyes are more successfully applied by a professional hair dresser.
