...As mentioned in the earlier paragraph Zoe Johnson a mother of three, and also a recovering alcoholic of three years shared with the group her journey with alcoholism. Her alcoholism started slowly but lasted a very long time. The situation that led to her drinking was the numerous amounts of times she cheated on her husband and lies she told her family when she wasn’t at home. She started drinking because she wanted to escape the harsh reality of what she had done to her life. She wanted to tell her husband about her affair because she couldn’t live with herself anymore. There was one day in particular that changed her life for the better, it started out for a normal day for her, she got her kids ready for school and kissed her husband and kids goodbye. She started her day with a drink and called her boyfriend to come over. While her boyfriend was over her house, her husband came home and caught them together. Her husband ran out the house and she and her boyfriend quickly got dressed. She went after her husband but he was already gone, she called his job and other places she knew he would but she couldn’t get in touch with him. She spent the rest of the day drinking and thinking about how she and her family is going to get through this. She couldn’t deal with the pain any longer so she decided she wanted to end her life. While she was drunk she got in her car and was planning to drive off a cliff, but she never made it to the cliff because she got in a car accident and she injured a twelve year old kid. And almost died herself, when she woke up in the hospital she was told what happened and then she realized that now was the time to start making some changes. Her and her husband went to counseling while in counseling she decided to attend AA meetings for her addiction to alcohol. Now she and her husband are still happily married and are just taking it day by day. Michael Mackowitz was successful president of an advertising company.
