With the war on terror and the fight for political control, Iraq, a country known for its rich soil and biblical history, has become one of the most deadly and fought over grounds in the world today. Much of the Middle East has been the study and experimental ground for some thousand archeologists throughout history. The fruit that these grounds produce have been known to Jews, Christians, and Muslims as plentiful and holy. Throughout the years, many have tried piecing together so many of the unsolved mysteries that these grounds have to offer. With the war in Iraq, many archeologists believed in addition to the fall of a powerful regime, would also be the fall of a great wall so many of them had anticipated for. The fall of this wall would mean the opening of doors to many sites in a country that had been previously locked out to much of scientific research. However, this door remains shut, not because of a powerful regime, but because of a powerful war and the violence that accompanied it that yet continues. With a lawless and ravaged country, the once anticipated expedition has been put to an indefinite halt. Instead, looters and the destruction of war have taken its place.
