Genetic screening is one of today’s medical innovations that can make a beings life better. This is the process that can save a beings life from fatal genetic disorders. In this process, the fetus is scanned for suspected genetic diseases. Genetic screening was first used in the early 1970’s to scan for Tay-Sachs disease, which is a hereditary disease that leaves the body unable to produce enzymes. Commonly scanned genetic diseases may include cystic fibrosis, Huntington’s chorea and certain forms of cancer. Eugenics is a method of improving the human race. By scanning the gene pool, this method encourages the smart, strong and talented to breed. This method is sometimes frowned upon because some people may consider it to be discriminating.
