... these movies were they all involved Love! All movies mentioned also involved major dance scenes as well as using modern music as the background soundtrack and the main soundtrack. Each story also included a person or persons that denied the people in love the ability to have an open relationship, with two of the movies ending in tragic endings. And last but not least they all had that Baz style of fast paced brief shots of the actors and actresses, and the surrounding set. You will notice that not only does he use fast paced shots but he uses a far to close fast close ups a lot in his movies, I hope I am describing this accurately. If you have seen his movies I think you will know what I mean. The characters in his movies are all associated with a dance scene of some sort. In Romeo & Juliet they first meet and fall for each other at a ballroom costume party. Moulin Rouge is set in a play house theatre, so that is pretty much what the whole movie is based on. And needless to say Moulin Rouge involved a lot of dance and costumes with some really weird costumes as well. Strictly ballroom… well I guess the title pretty much explains the movie doesn’t it? Yes a lot of music and dancing as well. Moulin rouge all though set in 1899 used all modern music from artists like Madonna to Elton John and nirvana. I really liked the way Baz Luhrmann used modern music. I was kind of familiar which helped me to understand more of the story. I think this approach by Baz Luhrmann is intentional.
