It’s time to ordain men of quality, not just look at the numbers.” Later in his speech he proceeds to say, “If we ordain men with pathologies and difficulties than they will bring men in of the same.” Bishop D’Arcy is an exceptionally noble and respected man in the Catholic Church and his opinion means a great deal to the populace of catholic religion. Being of Catholic religion, trust in your Bishop is particularly important, when your Bishop says that homosexuality is immoral than it is Page 2 wrong. Therefore, homosexuality is immorally wrong because it goes against the beliefs of the Catholic’s and Christian church. Secondly, homosexuality is viewed disapprovingly by our constitution as well. A small number of states recognize same-sex partnerships as officially permitted. However, some states such as Vermont, California and Massachusetts agree and are trying to embrace homosexual marriages. In 2003 the commonwealth of Massachusetts ruled that the state cannot refuse to marry same-sex couples. Marriage has been available for both same and opposite-sex couples as of May 2004. However, the state has an ancient miscegenation law on the books that was passed to prevent out of state inter-racial couple from coming to Massachusetts to marry. This law is being used to prevent same-sex couples from coming into Massachusetts and getting married. In 2003 a bill was signed into law for the state of New Mexico that is similar to the civil unions in Vermont.
