There are other aspects of celebrities’ lives that are exploited on news, due just to the fact that they have a famous face. The average person would be outraged if headlines worldwide stated that they had cheated on their significant other. However, this was the case for ex-President Bill Clinton. Just because he was the president, a huge deal had to be made about the “White House Scandal” and him cheating on his wife. This occurrence had nothing to do with his ability to handle politics, so therefore it should not have been presented to the public in such a manner. There is also news shown whenever a famous person, is sick or dying. Ronald Regan died of Alzheimer’s. His death was widely broadcasted on news shows, and his funeral was even shown. There are currently 4.5 million Americans suffering from Alzheimer’s. Every day someone dies from this disease, yet it is not shown on television and put out there for the whole country to mourn.
