Again using an internationalism approach the prisoners will learn cold behavior and a hands off cold approach to dealing with other people. And the final group of people that inmates will find contact with are friends and family from the outside. This is probably the most beneficial of all groups that inmates come into contact with. However should stresses occur such as divorce or an illegitimate child, they can actually lead to an increased chance of repeat crime (Crime in the Making: Pathways and Turning Points through Life.) The effects of rehabilitation programs in prison and their effects are widely debated among both prisons and experts alike. However the Bureau of Justice Statistics estimates that only around three percent of all arrests for serious crimes could be connected to release prisoners. Other research shows that only one to two percent of violent crimes in California can be linked to parolees. This data itself shows that correctional treatment has a minimal if any impact on crime rates at all. Several things that can increase an inmates opportunities to not become a repeat offender. First and foremost are the participation in prison industries and or participation in vocational training programs will drastically improve not only their ability to find a steady job once out of prison.
