...we could see was the light shinning from the rest area lights. You could see the next rest area ahead by the beam of light shinning on the dewy highway. The windshield fogged over as the sun came out from the humidity. The more the sun came out the more cars and trucks we saw passing by. It started to look a little cloudy. The raindrops started falling. The rain on the window sounded like a drop of water coming from a slow leaking faucet. As the rain started falling harder it started to sound like water falling from a waterfall. The rain stopped and the clouds cleared after about an hour. In the distance you could see bright lines of color. It was a rainbow that looked like it never ended. As the day went on there were so many stops and things to see. There were so many motorcycles on the road that day. We saw many different kinds of motorcycles. There were bright colored ones and there were many with tall long handle bars. When a big group of them would come through they sounded like roaring thunder crossing the plains of the Midwest. The tourist were packing the towns, they were filling the sidewalks looking at all the little shops along the way. The loud chatter and the sound of the horns on the vehicles came from all over. The sound of the cash register going, “Ching, Ching” rang out from the stores. It was nearing night fall and we were drawing closer to our destination. I was getting sleepy and all I could do is to listen to the voices on the radio. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a bright orange light flash. It was the gas light on the dash of the car. This would be our last stop until we reached our destination. We pulled up to the gas station and all you could see was the bright lights and lots of people filling their cars up with the stinky smelling gasoline. As we got back on the highway we noticed again that there was less traffic on the highway. I opened my pop that I had gotten at the gas station just moments before. I could hear the, “FIZZZZZ” coming from the bottle. The first drink chilled my body. As we drew near our place of destination the signs started telling us how much further we had to go.
