How English has impacted my life
...hout highschool, remained one of my more well- liked courses although It wasn’t necessarily my favorite class it definitely related closely with my favorite course, Psychology. Psychology is what I really started to become interested in during Highschool and of course communication is a huge part of the study of people. Communication, specifically the study of different ways to communicate to people and the different ways people communicate, is extremely important in psychology. I am majoring in psychology and would really like to enter the Clinical Psychology program here at Ball State, and studying communication is extremely important to a Clinical Psychologist because he or she must communicate well to patients on a daily basis. Language not only matters to me because it ties in so closely with my major, but also because it affects me on a deeper more personal level as well. I absolutely love music, of any kind, Rap, Country, Rock and Roll, Alternative, Oldies, you name it, I love it. The reason that I love music so much is because so many songs have such powerful lyrics. Some songs can completely change how I am feeling. I feel like not all people really take the time to appreciate well- written, well- thought out lyrics. Nothing is more powerful than listening to a song and thinking, “ Wow that artist really understands what I’m going through, maybe I’m not the only one that has ever felt this way.” I have a special appreciation for Country music because I feel that the majority of songs really tell a story, and usually a story that many people can relate to. I can’t really say I have a certain song that really affected my life, its more of a combination of songs throughout the years that have made me stop and think about not only my own life and situation but also the life and situation of the writer.
