... graduation and following up with my senior year to date, as well as unexpectant life events that have prompted growth and clarity in my emotions, maturity, intellect, and spirituality. Preceding my graduation from Beasley Academic Magnet Center, my grandmother passed away in result to her struggle with breast cancer. This struck me deeply as I had lived with my grandmother ever since I could remember. My graduation day was especially hard not having my grandmother around to see the day she had spoken of for so long. As the new school year began, I felt more mature and ready to face whatever obstacles that would be thrown my way. Unlike many of my fellow classmates, I enrolled in school a semester late due to residence issues prompted by my jealous uncle setting a fire in our home. This late start and devastation of our home took an incredible toll on my grades. My sophomore and junior year turned a new leaf in my life, I was once again back on the ball. I was given the opportunity to be involved in what was, to me, the best activity in high school or: The Eisenhower Express Show Choir. The show choir was an outlet that allowed me to get away from my five screaming sisters at home and have fun while doing so. While being involved in show choir, I have traveled to many cities all over the country, competing and working with some of the best people in the industry. The show choir became my home away from home and the members became my second family. During spring break of my junior year my family traveled to Houston, Texas to visit our distant cousins. While on the visit we began to frivolously look at homes, by the end of our trip, we were ready to move to Houston as soon as the summer. I finished my junior year and immediately went to Houston to enroll in school for my senior year. At the end of the summer, I was the only person in my immediate family who had moved to Texas. The entire family moving to Texas proved to not be feasible in such a short period of time.
