Nonetheless, although he was happy to have her in his life, I feel Franklin wasn’t much of a husband or lover. "She proved a good and faithful helpmate, assisted me much by attending the shop." (133) Never does he really mention his family or relationship with her bedsides when it interacts with his work. He also left at such a young age which leaves us to think he didn’t care much for them or going back to se them. Money was mentioned a great deal in his autobiography yet it wasn’t a huge part of his life. Of course during the several jobs he held he was a wealthy man, but he spoke more of it being an asset to life rather than a necessity. You needed money to set up future businesses as well as buy food. Eating and food were major infatuations in Franklin’s life and were mentioned a great deal during the story. At one point in time, he speaks of not wanting to eat a fish because of the mere cruelty to this creature. He states that the fish in no way can do danger to the man so why should we do harm to the fish. He later looks inside of the fish and says, "If you eat one another, I don't see why we mayn't eat you." (102) His routine diet and the eating phases he goes through are mentioned often since they are of importance to him. Franklin not only progressed himself through different businesses but also helped others along the way. His education allowed him to do whatever it took to complete certain tasks. Dr Baird mentioned that Franklin was the last one to leave work and the first one there every morning. The confidence that people had in this man was immense.
