... an argument Mr. Reed. The NAACP is not in the business of starting arguments; the NAACP is in the business of ADVANCING colored people, minorities (not just African-Americans). The NAACP’s mission statement states, “The NAACP insures the political, educational, social, and economic equality of minority groups and citizens; achieves equality of rights and eliminates race prejudice among citizens of the United States; removes all barriers of racial discrimination through the democratic process; seeks to enact and enforce federal, state, and local laws securing civil rights; informs the public of the adverse effect of racial discrimination and seeks its elimination; educates persons as to their constitutional rights and to take all lawful action in furtherance of these principles.” I do strongly agree with you, Mr. Reed, on one point. Racism is kept alive by those that want the problem to continue. However Mr. Reed, I believe that you are a little confused on who “the people” are. In your article Mr. Reed, you stated “The people that started this ridiculous issue keep racism alive because to them, everything happens because of race.” The people that started this “ridiculous issue” were the three gentlemen with the tape on their mouth on the front page of October 26th issue of The Houstonian.
