If a good man uses power in in-just ways than that man is evil. There are some important themes in this overall text that support the them of justice and the good life like….Power- On one hand Socrates says that people who govern other people enact actions that they do not believe in to benefit the state for which they are in charge. But on the same token Socrates also says that people who a re always satisfying there own desires don’t have real power. Because its not really power its just satisfying a brief appetite. To have a good life one must be in control of both your body and soul. Also the aspects of Virtue play a large role in the text. In this light, virtue is be seen as a composition of crucial topics: power, justice, temperance—all of which are associated with the good. Because in some essence virtue is the purest form of good, or of living the good life. This is a result of having the proper skills and teaching. Now moving on to some quotations from t he book that will help in explaining the argument. “It is worse to suffer than to do wrong” Callicles's is hesistant about this issue, but Socrates insists that there is a greater shame involved with committing, as opposed to being the victim of, a wrongful act. This shame itself results from the higher degree of evil involved with inflicting, rather than suffering, wrong. In terms of justice and in justice, one who does wrong is worse off than one who is having wrong done to him. Basically right and wrong and the pursuit of this good life that is full of purpose carries with it a wide range of ideas.
