My Star

... that one time, I learned a lot about her. I learned that she was shy, and that’s why she didn’t really talk to anyone. I learned that she had been playing softball for three years before that, that her favorite color was blue, and that she wanted to be a cheerleader in high school. I also learned that she loved reading, talking on the phone, shopping, and going to the beach. It seemed to me that she was a great person, and I had a lot of fun talking to her. We had a lot in common. I loved talking on the phone, reading, and shopping too, and I also wanted to be a cheerleader in high school. At the time I had been cheering for Pop Warner (a city football/cheerleading league) and I told her about it. I asked her if she wanted to cheer with me when the next season started in August, and of course she did want to. After talking to Mia I had learned that we had a lot in common and that she was a really nice person. Mia and I got along great, so I became her friend after that. My friends asked me why I went and talked to Mia. I told them that I thought that maybe she just didn’t talk to anyone because she was shy, and that she probably wanted some friends, but no one would ever talk to her. I told them that she was a really nice person and that they should try talking to her. So, since they were my friends, they believed me when I told them that she was a nice person and they tried getting to know her. After they had talked to her, they realized that she really was cool and that they had been wrong for judging her. They all became friends with her after that. I had learned from Mia that I shouldn’t judge people. I learned that until I try to get to know someone, I shouldn’t make assumptions on their personality. If I had listened to what all my friends said about Mia, then I would have missed out on a great friendship. If I had let myself just believe that everyone was right about Mia being conceded, instead of trying to get to know her, than I wouldn’t have had the greatest friend I have ever had. While Mia and I don’t talk as much anymore, I still consider her one of my best friends. Whenever I need to talk about a problem I am having, and there’s no one around for me to talk to, I know that I can call Mia and she will listen. When I am excited about something, like when I got my driver’s license or when I got my first job, I call Mia and tell her all about it. And, when she needs someone to talk to or just wants to tell me some good news, she calls me. We hardly ever see each other, since it’s and hour drive to her house from where I live, but we are still good friends. I often think about Mia and all the fun we had together, but mostly I think about everything that I learned from her. Mia taught me about God. God was a big part of Mia’s life and she brought him to mine. I asked Mia one day how come she is so nice to everyone and she replied, “I don’t judge anyone. I leave the judging up to God.” So, I asked her if she was religious and she told me that she is. We started talking about religion, and she asked me if I wanted to go to church with her the next Sunday. I said that I wanted to, and that next Sunda...
